@ci@social.lol in fairness, Tumblr was always built towards heavy usage of images so it's the natural backup to IG. Especially now it seems to be going through a renaissance.

@nucleo @DuncanHolmes@mastodon.art that's already an improvement then!

@fononik exactly. I had to settle with the Ilford mono format ones as next best solution to adjustable ones.

@fononik oh it looks really nice! Better than having to mess around with blades or single size easels.

@ci@social.lol not been on Tumblr since before it got sold and kind of imploded but I really liked it at the time. IMO it was much better than IG in the way it worked and in the way the community worked. Obviously I'm apprehensive about getting onto yet another social media platform but I've been thinking about it.

@pixelated135 looks like JPEGs are the only format. Which is to be expected but was for some reason thinking maybe Mastodon was a little different.

@NimbleDave is it the engagement? The way toots work with image captions or just overall experience?

@DuncanHolmes@mastodon.art I suppose it is. Just for some reason thought that maybe Mastodon worked differently. As long as images are not as horribly compressed as on IG, I'm happy enough.

TIL that Mastodon is very picky with image file formats.

Not quite sure why I exepected differently, but here we are. How is everyone else finding Mastodon for sharing their photography vs the blue bird thingy?

As someone who was born abroad, the red phone box is something that I always associated with Britain. At the same time, despite being 'only' 33, I actually did use phone boxes as a child. Mostly one that was across the street from where I lived. And kids in Italy used to collect phone cards as Telecom Italia, our version of BT, often released limited edition designs.

The last phone boxes: broken glass, cider cans and – amazingly – a dial tone

As this seems to be the thing to do, here it goes.

I'm Rob, born in Italy but living in England. Bramd new dad, working as a business analyst.

However, my love is elsewhere. Historian by training, I've loved everything from as early as I can remember and still very much do. The past few years I've also caught the bug real hard. Mostly because I'm just in love with the process.

Expect most photography talk and history ramblings.
